RCTC Emergency Alert
In the interest of promoting the safety of our campus community, Rochester Community and Technical College is implementing a new emergency notification system, RCTC Emergency Alert. This system, powered by Blackboard Connect, replaces the current StarAlert Emergency Notification service.
What is RCTC Emergency Alert?
RCTC Emergency Alert messages are sent to you through your RCTC e-mail during emergencies that threaten life or safety and/or severely impact standard campus operations. The RCTC Emergency Alert system will only be used in emergency situations.
Who Can Register?
All RCTC students and employees are automatically enrolled through their institutional email system. Individuals are encouraged to opt-in with additional contact information including cell phone number for text messages (standard text messaging rates may apply), non-institutional email addresses and landline phone numbers for automated voice messages. This can be changed at any time by visiting the registration page.
Community members, external organizations located on campus, parents, education partners and anyone else will be able to opt-in by visiting the RCTC Emergency Alert website and supplying their contact information.
Notifications are brief and clearly identifies as a RCTC Emergency Alert. They will include information on the situation at-hand, what action to take and where to find additional information.
Watch your RCTC email account in the coming weeks for a confirmation message that you are enrolled and how to supply additional contact information. Registration and updates are free, quick and easy. Information submitted through the registration process will only be used for the RCTC Emergency Alert System.
