Basketball starts season off to great start

The men and women’s basketball teams have started off their seasons with a bang.


The men’s team’s first game on Nov. 8 against Fox Valley was a huge win, almost doubling Fox Valley’s score, winning 101-52. At the half, RCTC led 45-16.

Jeff Bonds, Justyn Galloway, and Demetrius Cady all had 16 points in the game, and Robert Claypool followed closely with 12. Akeem Smith led the team with eight rebounds, and Cady had eight assists.

The Yellowjackets made 13 of 16 free throws during the game and hit 60 percent of their three-pointers.

On Nov. 11, the Yellowjackets met with rival Crossroads College on the home court, beating them 88-60.

Galloway led the team with 18 points, followed by Claypool with 15 and Ben Ratliff with 12. Galloway also had eight assists in the game.

The Yellowjackets are ranked second in the NJCAA National Division III polls.

The men’s team plays next on Wednesday, Nov. 19, against North Iowa Community College at 8 p.m. here at RCTC.



The Lady Yellowjackets won their first game of the season, Nov. 8 against Fox Valley, winning 62-45.

Tailor Raymond was able to throw a total of 20 points in the game, followed by Jenna Ness with 17 points. The women had 53 rebounds, 17 by Raymond.

The Yellowjackets play next on Wednesday, Nov. 19, against North Iowa Community College at 6 p.m. here at RCTC.
