Basketball, wrestling week in athletics

Men’s basketball

The RCTC men’s basketball team took in two more wins in the last week, beating North Iowa Community College 81-71 and Milwaukee Area Technical College 67-56.

The Yellowjackets took on NIACC on Wednesday, Nov. 19, at home. Justyn Galloway led the team with 27 points with Keiron Sauer and Robert Calypool following with 14 each. Sauer also had 12 rebounds. They Yellowjackets hit 14 of their 18 free throws.

Milwaukee came to RCTC to play on Friday, Nov. 21. Ben Ratliff led the team with 14 points with Galloway having 12 points.

The Yellowjackets play next on Tuesday, Nov. 25, at 7:30 p.m. at Madison.

 

Women’s basketball

The Lady Yellowjackets had a tough loss against NIACC on Nov. 19, losing 46-75, but rallied to overcome Milwaukee on Nov. 21, winning 84-73.

The Yellowjackets fought hard against NIACC, with Tailor Raymond leading the team with 16 points. Jenna Ness followed with nine points. The team made 24 of 29 free throws and had 53 rebounds, 11 by Raymond.

In the win against Milwaukee, Jessica Brubaker threw an amazing 25 points, followed by Audra Durham with 20. Raymond grabbed 13 rebounds, and the Yellowjackets hit 27 of 38 free throws.

The Yellowjackets play their next game on Tuesday, Nov. 25, at 5:30 p.m. at Madison.

 

Wrestling

The RCTC Wrestling team took to the Augsburg Open on Saturday, Nov. 22, in Minneapolis. Some of the teams playing in the open were Augsburg, Southwest Minnesota State University, St. John’s University, St. Olaf College, Itasca Community College, Ridgewater Community College, RCTC, and University of Minnesota-Duluth, among others.

Joe Munos took third and Label Lewis took sixth in the Gold 141 weight class. Wesley Schultz got fifth at the Gold 184 weight class. Mason Moreno took fifth place in the Silver 133 weight class and Trevor Scott took first in the Silver 149 weight class. Tim Krueger placed sixth in the Silver 184 weight class and Brett Bradford took fifth in the Bronze 157 weight class. Ja’von Tolliver took second and Collin Olson placed fourth in the Bronze 174 weight class.

The Wrestling team travels to take on the MSU-Dragons next at 9 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 7.
