The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention Out of the Darkness Campus Walk held on Saturday, April 25, was a success.

The RCTC-sponsored campus walk was the first of its kind in Minnesota. Several students and staff were involved with the walk, including Jenna Goldsmith, Zach Winter, Brett Bradford, Kristian Kennedy, Jackie Anderson, Courtney Schurhammer, Jessica Parker, Shannon O’Hara, Katie Swegarden, and Cara Fox.

The goal was surpassed and 130 walkers participated, raising $4369 for AFSP and suicide awareness. Out of the Darkness Campus Walks help the effort with thousands of people to raise awareness and funds that allow AFSP to invest in new research, create educational programs, advocate for public policy, and support survivors of suicide loss.

As the leader in the fight against suicide, and thanks to walkers across the country, AFSP has been able to set a goal to reduce the annual suicide rate 20% by 2025.
