CTECH Groundbreaking Aug. 18
A Ground Breaking ceremony will be held on Tuesday, August 18 at 4:00 pm for the new Career and Technical Education Center at Heintz (CTECH).
The CTECH building, located on the Rochester Community and Technical College campus, features classroom and lab spaces where high school students can explore and pursue educational opportunities leading toward careers in technical fields – all in a college setting. Programs housed at CTECH include Agriculture, Engineering, Construction, Hospitality, Health Science, Manufacturing and Information Technology (IT).
Additionally, CTECH is a framework for collaboration among learners, educators, employers, and others. One such component is the Stem Village, which will open this fall. Stem Village will offer professional development opportunities for staff; opportunities for districts to obtain difficult to acquire science and math resources; and will offer collaboration among area educators.
CTECH is a partnership between Rochester Public Schools, Rochester Community and Technical College, and Winona State University-Rochester. The CTECH facility is being funded by the city of Rochester’s sales tax revenues.
The CTECH Ground Breaking ceremony will include remarks from RPS Superintendent Michael Muñoz, RCTC President Leslie McClellon, WSU President Scott Olson and Rochester City Council President, Randy Staver. The Ground Breaking event will be held in the EAST parking lot of RCTC’s Heintz Center at 1926 College View Road East.
