The women’s and men’s Yellowjacket Basketball teams brought their regular season play to a close this last week, playing St. Cloud Tech and Western.

Women’s Basketball

The ladies had very close loss against St. Cloud Tech at the Feb. 18 game, losing 69-70. They led in the first half by 10 points, 41-31, but St. Cloud managed a rally in the second half.

Danielle Adams led with 25 points, followed by Tailor Raymond with 16 points.

Audra Duhrman made four 3-pointers.

The Yellowjackets came back on Saturday, Feb. 21, with a narrow win against Western Technical College, winning 73-72.

Raymond sank 27 points, followed by Adams with 22. Raymond also had 15 rebounds and made two of three 3-pointer attempts.

RCTC will host the NJCAA Region XIIIA Tournament on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 28-March 1, at the Sports Center.

The Yellowjackets play Anoka-Ramsey at 6 p.m. on Saturday. If they win, they play next at 3 p.m. on Sunday. The winner will head to the NJCAA DIII National Tournament March 12-14 in Bethlehem, Penn. View the bracket.

The Yellowjackets are currently ranked ninth in the NJCAA DIII National Polls.

gallowayMen’s Basketball

The men brought home two big wins to finish off their regular season. At the Feb. 18 game against St. Cloud Tech, the Yellowjackets led 47-22 at the half and brought in an additional 49 points in the second to win big, 96-57.

Justyn Galloway led with 18 points, followed by Keiron Sauer with 17. Galloway also sank four of five 3-pointer attempts.

The Yellowjackets hit a little more than 81 percent of their free throws.

At the Feb. 21 game against Western Technical College, the Yellowjackets rallied in the second half after only a 6-point lead in the first to win 95-67.

Sauer led with 14 points, followed by Galloway, Aaron Samuels and Lavar McCullough with 13 each.

The bracket has been announced for the MCAC/Region XIII Tournament held at Anoka-Ramsey Feb. 26-March 1. The Yellowjackets play Rainy River at noon on Feb. 27. If they win, they play Feb. 28 at 3 p.m., and the championship game will be held at 3 p.m. on March 1.

The Yellowjackets are ranked fifth in the NJCAA DIII National Polls.


The Softball season starts this Friday, Feb. 27, with an Early Bird Tournament held in the Dome. Play starts at 9 a.m. and continues through 9 p.m.
