The softball Yellowjackets plays eight games over the last week with seven wins and one loss.
On Wednesday, March 16, the ladies took on Northland Community and Technical College and won 23-0 in five innings.
Paige Gadient and Sammy Hogan each scored four runs, and Haley Vanourney and Christina Stanger each scored three. Hogan and Stanger each hit a homerun. Hogan had five RBIs, Stanger three, Ashleigh Dralle two, and Gadient and McKayla Alrich one each.
Pitcher Hogan face 16 batters and allowed no hits.
Next the team took on Itasca Community College and won 11-3 after five innings.
Vanourney scored four runs, and she and Stanger each hit a homerun and had two RBIs each. Makayla Kaeppel and Shantel Loos each had one RBI. Vanourney and Hogan each stole a base.
The last game of the day was against Mesabi Range, and the Yellowjackets won 10-0 after five innings.
Vanourney, Kaeppel, and Ahlrich each scored two runs. Hogan hit a homerun, and Kaeppel stole a base. Hogan had three RBIs, Vanourney two, and Stanger and Dralle one each.
Pitcher Hogan faced 17 batters and allowed one hit.
On Friday, March 25, the ladies took on Rainy River and won 9-0 after five innings.
Vanourney and Gadient each scored two runs. Vounrney had two RBIs, and Hogan and Loos each had one.
Pitcher Hogan faced 18 batters and allowed two hits.
Later in the day, the Yellowjackets took on Vermilion, winning 11-3 after six innings.
Vanourney, Hogan, and Stanger each scored two runs. Hogan and Loos each hit a homerun. Hogan had four RBIs, Kayla Branstad and Loos three each, and Ahlrich one.
Pitcher Quincy Gross faced 22 batters and allowed three hits.
On Saturday, March 26, the Yellowjackets took on Hibbing Community College and won 22-3 after five innings.
Hogan, Stanger, Branstad, Kaeppel, and Ahlrich each scored three runs. Hogan hit a homerun. Vanourney had four RBIs, and Stanger, Branstad, Kaeppel, and Gadient each scored one RBI. Stanger stole two bases and Branstad stole three.
RCTC then took on Central Lakes College and won 10-2 after six innings.
Vanourney scored three runs. Hogan scored a homerun. Hogan had five RBIs, Stanger two, and Vanourney and Dralle one each.
The last game of the day was against Madison College, and the Yellowjackets lost 0-6.
Loos had two hits and Vanourney and Dralle one each.
The Yellowjackets are 11-11 overall and haven’t entered conference play yet.
The Yellowjackets play next on Friday, April 8, against St. Cloud Technical and Community College at 3 and 5 p.m. here at RCTC.
The baseball team plays its first regular-season game on Tuesday, March 29, at 2 and 4 p.m. at Iowa Lakes Community College.
