Physics Demo Show Feb 27 and 28
Rochester Community and Technical College’s Physics and Engineering Club will hold its annual Physics Show in RCTC’s Hill Theater at 2 pm and 7 pm on Saturday, February 27 and at 2 pm on Sunday, February 28.
RCTC physics faculty and students will conduct numerous scientific demonstrations that will be both educational and entertaining. This year’s show will include “hearing” waves; expanded laser show; Van de Graaff generator; Tesla coil lightning storm; flame dancers; bed of nails; vacuum cannon; balloon bed; and barrel crush demonstrations.
RCTC physics instructor Dr. Rod Milbrandt notes, “Many of the demonstrations were built by current and former RCTC physics and engineering students.”
Tickets for the 90 minute show will be available at the door for $7 each or $6 each with a nonperishable food donation. RCTC students are admitted free with a student ID. All funds collected will benefit the Physics and Engineering Club. Milbrandt added, “Proceeds will help fund the RCTC student club’s tour of national and industrial laboratories.”
