RCTC Fall Registration Begins, Tuition Reduction in Place

Rochester Community and Technical College’s registration for fall semester begins on Friday, April 1.

  • Returning sophomores with 30 or more completed credits can register online as soon as Friday, April 1.
  • Freshmen with 1 – 29 completed credits can register as early as Monday, April 4.
  • New incoming freshmen with no completed credits can register as soon as Wednesday, April 6.

Beginning this fall, all students enrolling for fall semester will see a lower tuition bill.  RCTC is reducing tuition by one percent beginning fall semester and extending through spring of 2017.  Additionally, through a unique grant opportunity, many students could receive free tuition.

The MnSCU Two-Year Occupational Grant Pilot Program will begin fall semester 2016. This exciting new program is for 2016 high school grads (HS, GED, or AmeriCorps), and they must meet certain financial and academic criteria to be eligible for this grant.  Specific qualifications are located at www.rctc.edu/free.  This website also outlines additional information about the grant including the application process, how the money will be disbursed plus deadlines and performance qualifications.  The grant funds are intended to cover any remaining tuition and general fees students may have after Pell and state grants —not books or course/program specific fees.

Eligible students who are also 2016 HS or GED graduates (or 2015 AmeriCorps students) will have a limited window of opportunity for this grant since funds will be distributed on a first come, first served basis.  Interested students should begin their application process as early as possible to help ensure they will meet all necessary qualifications for this grant.

To start the application process, go to www.rctc.edu/admissions/ to complete the online application.  There is no application fee at RCTC.  Applicants will be contacted with additional information to enroll.  Fall semester classes begin on Monday, August 22, 2016.
