RCTC Instructor Awarded Olmsted County Environmental Achievement Award
Rochester Community and Technical College is proud to announce that Cory Rubin, Ph.D., Biology and Environmental Science Instructor, has been awarded the Olmsted County Environmental Achievement Award for Education. Dr. Rubin is recognized for making Olmsted County a more sustainable community through innovative programs and practices that demonstrate environmental leadership.
Dr. Rubin was nominated by RCTC student Ron Schreiber. In the nomination, Schreiber states that Dr. Rubin, “teaches students about local and global environment concerns that they need to be aware of. Then he demonstrates lessons in lab (that is on campus) and off-campus trips. He also takes time to discuss current events if one arises about the environment.” Ron Schreiber also included in his nomination that “Dr. Rubin assures himself that hundreds of students are more aware of the environment around them and how each decision they make can positively or negatively affect our local and global resources.”
“I am honored to have been nominated by a former student and then subsequently selected for this environmental achievement award. It is always nice for a teacher to know that he is appreciated by his students,” stated Dr. Rubin.
Olmsted County and Rochester Public Utilities will recognize Dr. Cory Rubin, other community members, businesses, and organizations that have made a significant contribution to environmental quality in Olmsted County, at the Environmental Awards Banquet on Thursday, Jan. 19, 2017, at the Rochester Golf & Country Club.
