RCTC receives $80,000 for Fine Arts fund
Willard Johnson, a retired music instructor at RCTC, presented an $80,000 donation to RCTC on Thursday, Oct. 9.
Johnson and his wife, Lorraine, presented the donation at 2 p.m. to establish the Willard and Lorraine Johnson Family Fund for Excellence in Fine Arts Education. The Johnsons established the fund for the purpose of supporting and promoting excellence in fine arts and supporting initiatives for students enrolled in fine arts at RCTC. The primary focus will be advancing career aspirations for students with a special emphasis on careers in music and closely related musical fields.
Johnson, also a department chair, had a distinguished career at the College from 1958 through 1985. Lorraine and Willard’s two sons, Clark and Curt, each began their post-secondary studies at the College, developing a long-lasting and meaningful bond between the Johnson family and RCTC.
During his career, Mr. Johnson taught hundreds of courses and impacted the lives and careers of thousands of students. He guided the music department toward excellence and achieved significant milestones during his 27 years.
