WEATHER/EMERGENCY CLOSINGS/EMERGENCY ALERT
As we continue in the winter season, now is the time to remind everyone of the policies and procedures followed should classes need to be canceled, or the campus needs to close, due to a weather or other emergency.
All students are encouraged to sign up for the RCTC Emergency Alert, an emergency alert text-messaging system that enables RCTC to notify subscribers of any campus-related emergency, such as potential campus safety hazards or campus closures due to weather.
During questionable weather conditions, a number of factors will be considered in making the decision on whether to delay the start of classes, or close the campus. These include, but are not limited to: Are state highways open and snowplows operating? Are local transit systems running? Is wind, cold, or ice a factor? Are power or heating systems affected?
During an emergency, an emergency alert e-mail will be sent to all RCTC students and employees, and a phone call/text message will be sent to all subscribers of the RCTC Emergency Alert system. In addition, RCTC’s Facebook, Twitter, and website (www.rctc.edu) will have up-to-date information, the College’s main switchboard will have a recorded message with the status of any campus closing (507-285-7210), and the following media outlets will be notified:
- Radio: KRCH/Laser 101.7; 102.5 (The Fox); KWEB; KROC AM/FM; Y105; KWWK, KLCX, and KDZZ
- Television: KTTC-TV; FOX 47-TV and KAAL-TV
In the event of inclement weather, RCTC will make every effort to make an announcement by 6:00 am whether the campus will be closed or have a delayed start for the day. The decision to cancel evening classes will be made by 3:00 pm.
Because weather and related road conditions are not the same in every area where students live, the decision as to whether it is safe to travel ultimately resides with each individual.
Please remember, the personal safety of the members of the campus community is RCTC’s number one priority in making any weather-related decision about campus operations. For the complete RCTC Weather/Emergency Policy, click here.

RCTC STUDENT PRINTING
RCTC implemented student print accounting to promote Green conservation, help control rising printing costs, and aid in keeping student technology fees down. The following information on this page represents RCTC’s student printing guidelines.
RCTC students will receive 500 sheets/credits of paper into their print accounts at the start of each semester which can be used for either single sided or double sided (duplex) black laser printing.
Currently the Library Technology Center (LTC), located on the third floor of the library, and the UCR Learning Center (AT 306), support duplex printing. RCTC is continually expanding duplex printing services throughout campus and will keep updated changes on the RCTC Student Printing webpage.
Each student that logs on to a campus computer will be able to track and purchase additional sheets/credits of paper through the print management account icon on the computer desktop.

SCHOLARSHIP PORTAL STILL OPEN
The RCTC Foundation’s scholarship portal is still open, but will close in less than one month on Friday, February 10 at 4:00 pm! Please encourage every student to apply if they need financial assistance to attend RCTC. The website for the portal is www.rctc.edu/foundation/scholarships. It is important to remember that these scholarships will be for fall 2017 and spring 2018 and the portal will not open again until later this year.

- Successfully complete 12 or more letter-graded credits, in the same semester
- Credits for P (Pass) are excluded from the count
- Earn a minimum grade point average of 3.0 or better for the semester credits
- Grades of I (Incomplete), W (Withdrawal), AU (Audit), and NC (No Credit) are excluded from the calculation
Letters of congratulations are sent to students receiving a GPA of 3.5 and above. Certificates are sent out to students earning a 4.0. The Dean’s List is posted in the Admissions and Records area and at the Heintz Center, as well as distributed to local media. The listing can also be downloaded by going to: www.rctc.edu/about/html/Deans-list.html.
Congratulations to all who made the list! There are 1,119 students who made the Dean’s List for Fall Semester, 2016 which ended in December.
- 4.0 GPA: 279 students
- 3.5 – 3.99 GPA: 362 students
- 3.0-3.49 GPA: 478 students
