EXPRESS ADVISING AVAILABLE!
It’s time to register for classes!  Have you met with your advisor yet as you look at enrolling in Summer and Fall classes?  Are you unsure of the classes you should be taking?  Are you having trouble reading your DARS?  The RCTC academic advisors are waiting to talk to you.  Every student at RCTC has an academic advisor or counselor, who is here to support students in their educational growth.  Students should work closely with their academic advisor or counselor so that educational goals are met. They will have walk-in hours scheduled during the following times:

  • Monday-Wednesday, March 25-27, from 9:00am – 12:00pm
  • Wednesday-Friday, April 3-5, from 1:00pm-4:00pm

Advisors will be standing by to discuss your academic plan with you.  Stop in and make sure your schedule is pointing you toward your goals!

Can’t make it during the times above?  Make an appointment with your advisor or counselor using AdvisorTrac.  Don’t wait until your classes aren’t available.  Get ready TODAY!

EMAIL PHISHING/SCAM EMOTET TROJAN/VIRUS GOING AROUND
High volume of emails with malicious attachments are being received by some users.  Emotet is polymorphic, which means it can change itself every time it is downloaded, evading signature-based detection.

Action:  If you receive any suspicious email, do not open an attachment or click on a link, please forward “as an attachment” to the Minnesota State service desk immediately at phish@minnstate.edu

Recommendations: Do not visit un-trusted websites or follow links provided by unknown or un-trusted sources.  If in doubt, contact the sender by phone to verify the authenticity of the attachment.

EDUROAM WIRELESS NETWORK EXPANDS INTERNET ACCESS FOR RCTC HOME AND VISITING MEMBERS
Recently, Rochester Community and Technical College expanded the wireless network options to include the Eduroam network. This new network service provides users from participating Eduroam institutions (including RCTC & WSU) with basic wireless internet access using their institution’s credentials. As a participating institution, RCTC users can access the Eduroam network at all participating institutions (including MinnState locations) using their StarID@minnstate.edu or StarID@go.minnstate.edu credentials.

This means that you, as a member of RCTC, have easy wireless internet access with your StarID@minnstate.edu or StarID@go.minnstate.edu credentials if you are ever visiting any of the 600+ participating Eduroam institutions.

More information about Eduroam can be found at the official MINNESOTA STATE Eduroam information page, including a list of all participating institutions.

** Some important notes:

  • The Eduroam network does not provide access to campus resources like mobile printing.
  • RCTC and WSU-Rochester students, faculty, and staff should continue to use RCTCwifi, Warrior, or Wazoo while on campus.

For any questions you might have, our Technical Support Center is always happy to help – via several options:

  • Walk-in Support – RCTC Main Campus (Goddard Library 100)
  • Phone Support – 507.536.5555
