Rooney, Gulland MCAC Players of the Week
Two Yellowjacket football players have been named the Minnesota College Athletic Conference Players of the Week for Oct. 12.
Nick Rooney, a sophomore from Minnetonka, was named the Offensive Player of the Week. Rooney broke his own record of single-game touchdown passes, with eight. He completed 31 of 39 passes for 352 yards during the game with Mesabi Range on Saturday.
Matthew Gulland, a freshman from Rosemount, was named Special Teams Player of the Week. Gulland drilled eight of 10 points after touchdowns and a 20-yard field goal. He leads the MCAC kickers in scoring with 54 points this season.
The Yellowjackets play next on Saturday, Oct. 17, at Ridgewater on 1:30 p.m.
The Yellowjackets are ranked first in the state and fifth in NJCAA national polls.
