Spring Metamorphosis Drag Show March 26

Get ready to watch some queens strut their stuff – the Gay-Straight Alliance is welcoming spring with a Spring Metamorphosis Drag Show on Saturday, March 26.

With music provided by the RCTC Music Tech Club, the drag show will feature many drag queens, including Sidonia Dudval, Brandy Merlot, and Dora, with Gosh Alice Jones as the show’s emcee. The Art Club and the Drama Club are also involved in the show.

Sidonia Dudval

Sidonia Dudval and her husband produce, direct, and own Rochester Girls, Inc., which has provided the Rochester area with top-notch drag entertainment and charity work for more than 20 years.

“Performers from the Rochester area are what make the show great as well,” said Dudval. “It showcases Rochester’s diverse talent.”

Brandy Merlot

Brandy Merlot has been performing since 2005 all over the state, as well as in La Crosse and Superior WI. She was Miss NSGRA (North Star Gay Rodeo Association) 2016 and Queen of Fab at Rochester Girls.

Dora

Dora is a fan of K-POP and has performed at Rochester Girls and also during Rochester Pridefest this year and last year. She started doing drag because there was no Asian Queen representation and felt that space needed to be filled.

Gosh Alice Jones

Gosh Alice Jones has been involved in Rochester’s gay and lesbian community since she moved here in 1997. She is personally involved with the local Gay and Lesbian Community Services organization as a board member and host of their weekly meetings. Jones has also served as the Rochester and Mankato  Pridefests co-chair. She guest co-hosts the drag show at the Gay 90s in Minneapolis as well.

Gage

Drag kings will also be present during the performance. Gage has been performing on and off since 2007. When not on stage, she’s a board member of the Gay and Lesbian Community Services and the Treasurer of the Human Rights Commission of Olmsted County. She’s the organizer of Moms Demand Action for Gun Violence Prevention.

This is also a first-time show for RCTC student and president of the GSA, Ben Froehling.

Miss Divine Intervention

“I think this will be a turning point for RCTC to sponsor its first ever Drag Show!” Froehling said. “It being my first time performing, I’m nervous and excited to get up on stage and pump up RCTC with a night of the fabulous and sexy Miss Divine Intervention.”

The show takes place 6:30-9:30 p.m. in the RCTC Cafeteria and is open to the public. There will be food provided.  The show is family friendly, though it’s recommended that audience members are ages 13+. Tickets are $5 each, and RCTC students get one free with a student ID.

The money raised will go to RCTC Student Life for programs involving student training and safe space education.
