Staffing changes on campus
- Judy Shultz will serve our college as Interim Dean for the coming year. Her appointment begins on Monday, August 11 and it is expected to continue into August, 2015. A few specific details of her assignment remain to be determined, however she will, for the most part, serve as dean for many of the departments previously assigned to Barb Mollberg. Also, Judy will work closely with our CLC and in other initiatives focused on enhancing student success and assessment. Dr. Shultz brings to this assignment a wealth of expertise and experience. Currently an instructor of Reading and Study Skills at Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College, Judy has over 25 years of experience as an educator. In her work at Fond du Lac, Judy has worked extensively with minority populations and underprepared learners. She also has experience in securing grant funding and, as Assessment Coordinator for 4 years, she has led efforts to enhance assessment practices. Additionally, Judy has 10 years of experience as an HLC peer reviewer. Judy holds degrees from Marshalltown Community College (Iowa), the University of Iowa, and a Doctor of Education degree in Educational Policy and Administration from the University of Minnesota, completed in 2013.
- As many of you already know, Holly Bigelow has announced over the summer that she is moving on to a new enrollment position at an institution in Wisconsin. We wish her well in her new endeavor. The position of Director of Admissions is of critical importance to our success in recruiting students and growing as an institution. Because of that importance, I think we need time to examine and evaluate the position and consider what our best options are for this critical role. Since Holly’s announcement, I have met with staff from the Admissions and Records area as well as other areas to gather information. I heard a clear message from staff that they need leadership in the Admissions area in the interim as we conduct a search. We needed to appoint someone with a good working knowledge of the Admissions and Records area and has a good rapport with the staff. The selected individual will be tasked to maintain the department’s standards while we do a national search over the next 6 months. After several discussions, I have asked Melanie Callister to take on the role of Interim Director of Admissions for the next 6 months. Melanie has accepted the challenge and her appointment is effective as of this past Monday. I will keep you all updated on the search process as the semester moves forward. Thank you Melanie for your willingness to step forward in this leadership role.
- Karen Walters was hired as an Account Clerk working in the Cashier’s Office with travel reimbursements, non-student receivables, cashiering and in the Bookstore with online orders, 3rd party authorizations and cashiering.
