Student Beehive – August 26

Weekly StudentAnnouncemntGraphic

WELCOME
Welcome to RCTC! Your education here opens doors to new, unexpected opportunities. It’s wonderful to have our new and returning students fill the campus and online learning community again! We, in Student Affairs and Enrollment Management are committed to your success and begin each semester with this communication campaign called “RCTC Student Beehive” – named in recognition of our campus yellowjacket mascot Sting.   Each week on Wednesdays, we’ll share the most relevant and important information about “Bee-ing” successful in accomplishing your goals at RCTC.

This year, we’re very excited to introduce a new format.  We will be putting most of the Beehive information out on The Daily Buzz, a blog site that the Marketing Department created and piloted last year.  We will continue to send you  weekly email reminders to check the blog and give you the headings of the information included in that week’s entry.  In this way we hope to minimize the amount of information coming to your inbox and yet make all the information available to you whenever you want it.  Not only will you find the Beehives here on The Daily Buzz but there is loads of other information that will be interesting to you.

STUDENT ACHIEVEMENTS
Rochester Community and Technical College wants to make sure that you’re recognized for your achievements. RCTC uses a platform called The Link to publicize your accomplishments like making the dean’s list, and graduating from RCTC. This platform allows us to send news items about your achievements back to your hometown newspapers.

When RCTC issues news stories about your accomplishments, you’ll receive an email to your RCTC e-mail account with a link to view your story online. You can connect with Facebook and share your achievement with friends and family.

You always have the option to “opt-out” of publicity about your success by following the College’s non-disclosure process as per Student Data Practices Policy which can be viewed on our website at: www.rctc.edu/policies/student/Student_Data_Practices.html.  Students who do not want to disclose directory information must submit specific written requests to the Admissions and Records Office by contacting the office for additional information and/or to obtain a “Request for Non-Disclosure” form.

We look forward to celebrating your achievements with your local hometown media and online. Keep up the good work and be on the lookout for emails about your accomplishments!
