Summer Bridge An Opportunity for Students

Students who graduated from each public school in Rochester this past May attended summer school at RCTC to get a head start on their college careers.

The photo below is of the recent graduate class, with most returning to RCTC to begin their college careers this fall.

“Students are getting a jumpstart on college education instead of beginning in the fall,” says College Transition Advisor Jamie Johnson.

Known as the Summer Bridge Program, this program seeks to attract, support, and retain graduates from Century High School, John Marshall High School, Mayo High School, and Rochester ALC who possess the desire to attend RCTC without yet having achieved the necessary college-level skills in reading, writing and/or math.

RCTC believes strongly in the capabilities of these students and offers the Summer Bridge Program as a supportive introductory environment for those who choose to attend RCTC. The program is designed to help ease the students’ adjustment to college life and build a foundation for academic success.

Interested students should contact the College Transition Advisor serving the high schools of John Marshall, Mayo and Century, Jamie Johnson.
