Volleyball beats Ridgewater for first time in years, Soccer brings home big wins
The soccer team once again outscored its opponents by leaps and bounds. The team played Century College on Saturday, winning 11-0. Kelsey Aylward had three goals, Michele Cook had two, and Courtney Hlavka had two. Goalie Kathryn Brainerd had two saves.
The soccer team beat Crown college on Wednesday 13-0.
The next game for the Yellowjackets is Thursday, Oct. 16, vs. Indian Hills at 2 p.m. on home turf.
Volleyball had a big win on Saturday against Ridgewater College, 3-2, beating them for the first time in many years. Friday also was a sweep against St. Cloud Technical and Community College, 3-0
On Friday against St. Cloud Tech, Amberlee Dunagan had three ace serves and 32 set assists. Brianna Atkins had 19 kills, Emily Kingland seven kills, and Danielle Adams nine kills. Natalie Reinardy had 21 digs, Haley Lenz had 12 digs, and Jessica Foster had 11.
On Saturday against Ridgewater, Amberlee Dunagan had 42 set assists and 10 digs. Brianna Atkins had 26 kills and 15 digs, Danielle Adams had 12 kills, and Natalie Reinardy had 27 digs.
The last time the Yellowjackets beat Ridgewater was 14 years ago in 2000. That year the team was conference co-champs, and it placed fourth in the NJCAA nationals.
The volleyball Yellowjackets are ranked second in the NJCAA. They play again Wednesday, Oct. 22, vs. Anoka-Ramsey at home.
Football has its bye week this week.
