Wrestling season starts strong
After a great season last year, the Yellowjacket wrestlers are already in great form.
The first meet of the season was RCTC’s own Yellowjacket open on Nov. 1.
Carson Henry took second place at the 125-pound weight class, Mason Moreno placed fifth at 141 pounds, Trevor Scott and Label Lewis took third and fifth at 149 pounds, Connor Hanson and Grant Kyllo took fourth and sixth at 157 pounds, Dillon Parpart placed second at 165 pounds, Cory Berry and Tyler Vogt took fourth and fifth at 174 pounds, and Wesley Schultz placed third at 184 pounds.
Two weeks later, the Yellowjackets competed at the Luther Open, which had more than 450 competitors from all college wrestling divisions.
Thomas Miller placed third at Silver 157 pounds, Dillon Parpart took fourth at Silver 165 pounds, and Wesley Schultz took first at Silver 184 pounds.
Also pulling in wins for the Yellowjackets: Derek Scott, Trevor Scott, Marcus Blount-McKinley, Ja’von Tolliver, Mike Dyer, Brett Bradford, and Connor Hanson.
The Yellowjacket wrestlers’ next competition is at the Augsburg Open on Nov. 22 at 9 a.m.
