Yellowjackets play in NJCAA DIII National Volleyball Tournament
After winning the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division 13A Tournament Nov. 8, the lady Yellowjackets Volleyball players are ready to take on the top teams in the nation for the national title here on the RCTC campus, Nov. 13-15.
Hosted by the Rochester Amateur Sports Commission, the tournament is a four-day event that includes a preparation day, practice day with a banquet, and two days of bracket play. The eight teams in this year’s tournament are seeded as follows, from one to eight: Madison, Rochester, Central Lakes, Monroe CC, Brookhaven, Lorain County, Davidson County, and Fashion IT.
The Yellowjackets, who finished 28-3 overall and 13-1 in the conference, play their first game on Friday at 11 a.m. in the Performance Court against Davidson. If they win, they will play again at 3:30 p.m. The championship game will be played Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
The Yellowjackets’ last appearance at an NJCAA national tournament was in 2000 when they placed fourth.
Tickets for the games are $10 for adults and $8 for students (including college with ID) and seniors. If you want a tournament pass, the tickets are $18 for adults and $14 for students and seniors.
RCTC students will be able to see the games for free when presenting their ID. RCTC faculty and staff get in with a reduced ticket price of $6 (ID is required).
